Description
Ballet Ouest de Montréal presents Nutcracker, by Claude Caron.
The magic of The Nutcracker is back! When it comes to holiday traditions, nothing beats this magical journey to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. This adaptation of The Nutcracker has been modernized thanks to the use of multimedia projections that allow us to follow Clara throughout her magical journey. In this version adapted to COVID standards, more than 40 children and 30 members of the corps de ballet will be brought together on stage for this holiday classic.
Ballet Ouest de Montréal’s brand new adaptation of the Nutcracker premiered in December 2013 to popular success and critical acclaim. The production stems from a creative process led by the company’s Artistic Director, Claude Caron:
“I went back to the source by reading Hoffman’s classic tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the inspiration for this ballet, in order to revisit the very substance of the story, he says. Moreover, my creative team and I drew our inspiration for the costumes and scenery from a reproduction of the sets that were designed for the ballet’s premiere performance in Saint Petersburg in 1892. This latest version of the Nutcracker is nonetheless rooted in modern times, thanks to multimedia projections”.
