Nutcracker

Description

Ballet Ouest de Montréal presents Nutcracker, by Claude Caron.

The traditional Christmas tale of Clara’s journey to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets is given a fresh appeal with multimedia projections. See the magic unfold as over 80 young dancers join 40 members of the company’s corps de ballet on stage.

Ballet Ouest de Montréal’s brand new adaptation of the Nutcracker premiered in December 2013 to popular success and critical acclaim. The production stems from a creative process led by the company’s Artistic Director, Claude Caron:

“I went back to the source by reading Hoffman’s classic tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the inspiration for this ballet, in order to revisit the very substance of the story, he says. Moreover, my creative team and I drew our inspiration for the costumes and scenery from a reproduction of the sets that were designed for the ballet’s premiere performance in Saint Petersburg in 1892. This latest version of the Nutcracker is nonetheless rooted in modern times, thanks to multimedia projections”.
